PunkNews.org reported yesterday that Bad Religion finished recording their new album New Maps Of Hell. Now they just have to mix it and the release date is set for July 10, 2007 (who knows if that will be pushed back further down the road). This is the best news I've heard since 2004 when I heard that The Empire Strikes First was going to be released. Its about damn time, I can't take this 3 years between releases they've been putting me through the last decade.
The best part is that over the span of their last 3 albums they have improved, big time. Remember The Gray Race, No Substance and The New America? Remember how everyone was saying Bad Religion had lost it, were going down the shitter and were old men who couldn't relate to punk today? Then they blasted out The Process Of Belief and ripped all our faces off with its greatness. Then Empire came out and did it all over again. Right when all you skeptics and haters out there thought Bad Religion was slipping into mediocrity and old age they put out two albums that raised the bar set by Suffer and Against The Grain and rocked like the 15 year old punks they once were. And if you ask me Maps is going to kick just as much (if not more) ass than anything they've done before.
