Its about time all Mass-holes out there got a dose of reality. Tom Brady is not God, Belichick is a poor loser and an even worse human being and Peyton Manning really is better than your good 'ol #12.
I can't stand the Patriots and their arrogant sense of entightlement. I could never root for a player like Tom Brady who looks constantly bored and shows no emotion. He does his job the way a good CPA does taxes, he's cordial, consistant and most of the time gets the job done. Is watching a CPA crunch numbers entertaining? Of course not. Until the day comes one jumps into the air, spikes his calculator to the ground and screams "YES! I found another deduction!" I am not going to watch it. Sure, a lot of people enjoy watching Brady play but personally I just don't like football that much.
I have seen countless playoff games when he makes a huge play and each time his reaction (or should I say lack of reaction) is the same. He casually stumbles up to the line of scrimmage or the sideline like he just got out of bed and you're lucky if you see a small and subtle fist pump. *Yawn* Part of the fun for me in watching this game is seeing how excited or upset the players get. Emotion is a key part of any sport and even though he gets the job done Brady's apathetic demeanor turns me off to him and his team. It makes him seem to think he is above the emotion and the game. He also seems to think that no matter what happens on any given play the Patriots will win because they are entightled to it.
These assumptions may be way off target, but, as a fan of sports in general, I am allowed to think I know everything. Not only is that my right but that is my obligation.
Now, on the other side of the spectrum is Peyton Manning. I was never a huge fan of him because his brother and father think they can change the rules of the league. That's not Peyton's fault though and I've learned not to let the grudge I hold towards Eli and Archie Manning affect my opinion of the Colts quaterback too much (although sometimes its hard to forget that old saying "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree"). Watching Peyton play, however is very entertaining.
Like Brady he is tremendous at what he does. Unlike Brady, however, Manning seems to enjoy playing the game. When he hits an open man for a big gain in the clutch he smiles and jumps around and yells at the top of his lungs. And when he has come up short (as he has so many times) he buries his face in his hands and looks truly disappointed.
That is what the game is about, emotion. Its about rolling with the punches and reacting to the situation. Whether you win or lose, don't let the emotion of the outcome wash over you completely because that's when it stops being a game and starts being work.
